Ok..I Lied..Black Friday lured me in!!

Sorry...had to do it...Hubby found a great deal on a Christmas present for my mother...so we did it..we spent all night at Wal-Mart and I ended up spending more money than I intended to.  But all in all we did really well.  I got myself 2 pair of lounge pajamas for only $ 4.00 a piece...got Matt a new shirt and 2 pairs of pajama bottoms for his birthday (total $ 15.00)....Les got that gift for mom (won't give away what that was or how much just in case she reads this ;)...we picked up Les 5 pairs of jeans at $ 9.00 a piece (ok..he doesn't need 5 pairs of pants but we will put them away and pray he stays the same size..lol). Then we headed over to Staples to get a 2 new external hard drives for $100 each (savings of $200)....found 4 DVD's for Matt for a total of $ 8.00  (3 are the Lord of the Ring movies and I will package them up for Christmas)  and found myself the Blueray version of Wizard of Oz for only $10.00 (I love old movies).  We swung by MickeyD's and picked up a little nourishment and then headed to Joann's to stand in line for 2 hours waiting on fabric to get cut.  Had it not been for the long line..that would have been the best part of shopping for me.  I bought a total of $ 50.00 in flannel that would normally cost a minimum of $150.00 (on sale)...if not on sale it would have been $ 250.00.  Christmas shopping for us is complete except for a gift card for my daughter and grandson...but won't pick that up until I know where she is moving to.

Black Friday Deals: A Savvy Consumer’s Guide

Black Friday Deals: A Savvy Consumer’s Guide

Take a look at this frugal survival guide for Black Friday. I have, in the past, taken great advantage of Black Friday deals. I still have a stock pile of $5.00 coffee pots that I got 2 years ago at Wal-Mart. We have such horrible hard water in our area that I can go through a coffee pot in a relatively short period of time. Interestingly enough, however, these $5.00 coffee pots have lasted longer than any $20+ pot I have had in the past (that is why I still have a large stock pile).

I don't think I will be partaking in this years festivities at the wee hours of the morning of November 26th this year. There really isn't anything that we want or need. I have been able to purchase all of my gifts online this year. This, in and of itself, save me tons of money. I don't have to worry about getting sidelined with the "newest and greatest" shiny items, the "great sales", and the impulse buys that tend to cost a lot of money in the long fun. I simply look for a few specific items, click, and have it shipped. No crowds, no getting out of my jammies, and I can easily stick to my budget.

Great Frugal Blog

This is a great blog that I have subscribed to for a long time.  There are great cost cutting ideas throughout the blog as well as the occasional contest to try and win.  Right now I am entering the BISSELL Steam & Sweep contest.  This would be awesome on my kitchen floor. Take a look around this blog if you are interested in ways to save money.
